Hello there! I’m Miranda Joy. You can call me MJ, but I’m sorry to say that I don’t know Spider-Man. Though I’ve long considered myself nomadic, I’ve recently planted roots in New York, not far from the small town I grew up in.
As a young girl, reading and writing saved my life. I went through things no child should ever have to, and make-believe stories encouraged me to dream, to be, and to strive for more. They taught me crucial life lessons that influenced who I became as a woman, such as unpleasant situations can be overcome, sometimes the best heroes come from dark pasts, family is more than just blood, and more. My way of paying it forward is by creating my own tales that encourage readers to dream bigger, love harder, and embrace being their own hero. There’s magic in every story. Imperfect people are no less worthy of love, and they deserve to shine.
On the professional side, I hold a BA in creative writing with a fiction concentration and an MFA in creative writing with a concentration in teaching writing from Southern New Hampshire University. I have been a certified personal trainer/fitness coach since 2015 and am an RYT-200.
When I’m not scratching out notes for my next story, devouring a book, or writing an endlessly long biography, I’m likely walking my dogs or doing yoga.
I love chatting with readers on social media, so don’t be shy!
